Air Jordan 9 : 1993–1994

Japanese design had inspired Tinker Hatfield at the time when he had begun working on the Air Jordan 9. In fact, Japanese culture served as the primary source of inspiration for many of the elements that are featured by the ninth model from the Air Jordan line. Words in various global languages representing Michael Jordan’s sporting spirit were added to the soles of the sneaker, while the Jordan Jumpman logo accompanied by the “Rising Sun” is featured on the rear end. Considering that the Air Jordan 9 represents Michael Jordan’s worldwide fame, it was the model chosen for his United Center statute.

It was that statue that served as the inspiration for the Air Jordan 9 Retro “The Statue” that hit the shelves in 2015. Summer 2016 might also mark the arrival of the Air Jordan 9 Low “Derek Anderson PE” and the Air Jordan 9 Low “Pantone.”
