The Air Jordan 31 had been officially unveiled on July 20 at a special event in Las Vegas. According to Jordan Brand, the thirty-first model brings together the Jumpman’s sense of innovation and unparalleled style. The Air Jordan 31 draws a great deal of inspiration from the first signature model in the line, the Air Jordan 1. Hence, it looks like a reimagined, 2016 version of the Air Jordan 1, blending contemporary performance with its vintage aesthetics.
The Air Jordan made its retail debut in a Black- and Red-colored “Banned” colorway, dressed up in the same color scheme as the Air Jordan 1 “Banned,” which also hit the shelves once again recently. The Air Jordan 31 is the latest milestone in Jordan Brand’s legacy, integrating the perfect blend of ground breaking and performance into the sport of basketball. Jordan Brand is even referring to the Air Jordan 31 as an “Anti-Gravity Machine.”
The Air Jordan 31 has several never-before-seen features that set it apart, such as:
= It is Jordan Brand’s first silhouette to feature the Jordan “Jumpman” and “Wings,” and the Nike “Swoosh” branding all at the same time.
= Each of its soles are equipped with a full-length Zoom Air unit that not only enables it to have a low profile, but also allows it to be cushioned, lightweight and responsive.
= The uppers are predominantly made up of Flywire, which offer a snug fit and support the wearer’s feet, as if the material is molded around their feet and is moving with them.
= The uppers also include a combination of Flyweave and synthetic leather, both of which seamlessly transition between one another, making this silhouette even more lightweight and supportive.
= The unmatched traction that it delivers is a result of the herringbone pattern beneath its soles.
Since the Air Jordan 31 had been unveiled not too long before the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics had officially kicked off, there have been several Olympic-themed colorways. Namely, the Air Jordan 31 “Brazil,” “Croatia” and “USA.” It was recently also revealed that this year’s Nike N7 collection will also include an Air JOrdan 31 “N7” that is scheduled to arrive at retailers on November 7th.
Even before its unveil, Russell Westbrook has seemingly been the forerunner and posterboy for the Air Jordan 31, so he has even rocked a few exclusive iterations here and there. However, the latest Air Jordan 31 rendition, dubbed “Fine Print” that is inspired by Michael Jordan’s contract signing with Nike, will eventually hit the shelves on September 17th. So, keep checking back for more Air Jordan 31 news and updates.
