Air Jordan 2009
The release of the Air Jordan 2009 marked the end of the Jordan 1-23 series, and the introduction of a new one of a kind style, revolutionary design and unmatched performance. The Air Jordan 2009 was designed as a result of collaboration between Michael Jordan himself and Jason Mayden, the Senior Footwear Designer of Jordan Brand.
Innovative style has combined with state-of-the-art performance by this pair. Jordan Brand took a more advanced approach to design this pair, but the shoes still stick with the legacy of the brand.
APT or Articulated Propulsion Technology, an innovative new technology is incorporated into the Air Jordan 2009. Inspiration for the futuristic look of the Air Jordan 2009 came from the carbon fiber prosthetic running technology April Holmes and other Paralympians have used.
Polishable panache leather and satin pleats have also been incorporated that give the Air Jordan 2009 a bold style. This was the very first time that luxurious design elements like these were utilize for an Air Jordan pair, which gave it a bit of dress-shoe-like feel. The thermo plastic urethane chassis of the midsole is another factor that sets the Air Jordan 2009 apart from its predecessors.
On January 31, 2009, the Air Jordan 2009 was released exclusively in a limited number, and the pair made its official retail debut on February 14, 2009.
