Air Jordan 17: 2001–2002
Upon the arrival of the 2001-2002 season, Michael Jordan left his position as the Washington Wizards’ President of Basketball Operations in order to sign a player contract. The Air Jordan 17 was designed by Wilson Smith III for Michael Jordan’s return and he drew inspiration from jazz music, which is obvious from the jazz notes that are molded onto the upper of the sneaker. The Aston Martin also inspired the Air Jordan 17 and a golf course where Michael Jordan played also contributed certain elements to the seventeenth model from the Air Jordan line. The Air Jordan 17 was designed to be equipped with a carbon-fiber sheath, dynamic-fit sleeve, hidden quick lace system, removable mid-foot strap, and a Zoom Air sole.
While the Air Jordan 17 has not made any appearances in 2015, the Air Jordan 17+ “Copper” is scheduled to receive the retro treatment in Summer 2016.
