Jimmy Butler’s summer was kicked off this past week when he was officially made a part of Team USA for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics. This could likely prove to be a fresh, new start for the shooting guard and small forward of the Chicago Bulls. Until now, Jimmy Bulter’s year was unfortunately nothing short of rough. It was only on paper that things seemed to be bright for him, considering that he resigned a $95 million, 5-year contract with the Bulls. Apparently, Jordan Brand still has faith in him and has chosen him to sport the Air Jordan 31 during the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Jimmy Butler’s most memorable and unforgettable moment of this year was him surpassing Michael Jordan and setting a new record for scoring the most points in a half. In his case, Jimmy scored 40. In a recent game, he even scored the highest points of his career, a total of 53. Jimmy also recorded the first triple-double of this career by scoring 12 assists, 17 rebounds and 28 points. Furthermore, he was even voted as a reserve for the All-Star Team. No doubt, there were quite a few bumps in his path this year, but that is all now behind him.
It was just this past week that the announcement was made regarding who from the NBA would be representing the red, white and blue as a part of the 2016 U.S. Men’s Basketball Team for the Summer Olympics. Most of Jordan Brand’s finest athletes, the likes of Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, Kawhi Leonard and Russell Westbrook, all withdrew their names from participating in the 2016 Summer Olympics due to the catastrophic situation in Rio de Janeiro. Thus, the only Jordan Brand athletes left, who are now officially part of the team, are Carmelo Anthony and Jimmy Bulter. Based on a recent interview, it turns out that Jordan Brand wants Jimmy Butler to mark the Air Jordan 31’s on-court debut, which is likely when everyone else will be able to get a look at the kicks too.
