Last year, Jimmy Butler received the Most Improved Player award and it seems that 2016 will also prove to be memorable for him. It was unfortunate that he had sustained a knee injury last month as a result of which he could not participate in the recent NBA All-Star Game even though this was the second consecutive time he was selected for it. Things really kicked off for Jimmy when Jordan Brand decided to craft his very own apparel collection and release the Air Jordan 29 PE “Jimmy Buckets.” Apparently, he is also the poster boy for the Jumpman’s latest model, the Ultra Fly.
The shooting guard and small forward of the Chicago Bulls showed off his apparel collection on Instagram, which consists of hats, t-shirts, etc. All of the items are dressed up in Chicago Bulls-inspired color scheme while featuring both his logo and nickname. As for the Air Jordan 29 PE “Jimmy Buckets,” it happens to be Jimmy Butler’s first Player Exclusive sneaker from the Jumpman. Apart from uppers dressed up in a “Bred” color scheme and digital elephant print pattern, the tongues also bear Jimmy’s logo, and despite being PEs, Jordan Brand dropped them on February 24th and retailed at a price of $190.
Back when Michael Jordan was performing on the court, he was nicknamed “Black Cat” because of his apparently unlimited arsenal of moves, including his pounce-like dunking abilities. It turns out that that the Jordan Ultra Fly was designed and themed after MJ’s “Black Cat” nickname. The cage-like uppers of the Ultra Fly are a result of a unique, extremely flexible and supportive Kurim overlay. The sneaker features black panther-like aesthetic cues, truly reflecting Michael Jordan’s nickname.
Jimmy Butler will actually be appearing on the court laced up in the Jordan Ultra Fly as the Chicago Bulls continue to progress in the Eastern Conference. It has been confirmed that the debuting Jordan Ultra Fly joins the recently postponed Air Jordan 12 “French Blue,” which means that it will hit the shelves on April 2nd and will retail at a price of $125.
