This summer, Drake has been constantly making headlines. From the time of his rap beef with Meek Mill, to the time he appeared at the OVO Fest in Toronto wearing exclusive Air Jordan 8 colorways, and most recently, the long-awaited Jordan release of his Air Jordan 10 OVO. Drake has become an equally distinguished figure in the music and sneaker community, so much so that sneaker customizers are drawing inspiration from him to whip up dope custom kicks like this Air Jordan 1 Mid Nouveau iteration.
This is not the first time that the Air Jordan 1 Mid Nouveau has been used by sneaker customizers, such as GourmetKickz, to serve as a base and canvas for their custom creations. GourmetKickz’ portfolio includes custom sneakers like the custom Nike Roshe Run renditions “Kill Bill” and “Paranorman.” GourmetKickz also created a custom Air Jordan 1 Mid Nouveau pair that was a part of his “Patina” Pack, which also included a Nike Air Force 1 Low. As the pack’s name suggests, both sneakers look as if they are made of bronze and copper with a brown or green film that forms on the surface of metals like these as a result of oxidation.
While the official Jordan release 2015 of this Air Jordan 1 Mid Nouveau may never happen, but it is probably the finest colorway/design created by drawing inspiration from the Toronto rapper. This particular custom design has been whipped up by HaveAir Customs, with Jordan Brand’s Air Jordan 1 Mid Nouveau silhouette serving as the base, and it is adored with Drake’s song lyrics and titles. Titles of Drake’s songs, including “Over,” “Miss Me,” and “Tuscan Leather,” are featured over the gold toebox. Similarly, lyrics to some of his most renowned songs cover the gold portions of the ankle, heel and Nike Swoosh logo.
While this Drake-inspired Air Jordan 1 Mid Nouveau may never hit the shelves, but it is undoubtedly one of the coolest sneaker that inspired by Drizzy. Perhaps in the near future, Jordan Brand may also whip up a colorway as dope as this one.
