Not so long ago, Dez Bryant shared a photo of his latest sneaker haul on his Instagram account and at the time, this Air Jordan 1.5 iteration was relatively unknown. Of course, it is no longer a mystery that the colorway has been dubbed “Sand Dune,” which is one of the hues that appear on the sneaker. Moreover, the date for the Jordan release 2015 of the Air Jordan 1.5 “Sand Dune” had also been confirmed quite recently. The only thing that Jordanheads are probably unaware of is the source of inspiration behind this iteration of the Air Jordan 1.5.
Many Jordanheads might find it hard to believe, but Jordan Brand actually drew inspiration for the Air Jordan 1.5 “Sand Dune” from the Milwaukee Bucks. They are probably wondering why Jordan Brand chose the Milwaukee Bucks as a source of inspiration. Perhaps they do not recall that back during his sophomore campaign, Michael Jordan broke his left foot and this temporarily set his career back since he had to take time off for rehab. It was quite a miracle Michael Jordan returned to the court that very season on March 15, 1986 during the playoffs as a part of the Chicago Bulls, who had a match against the Milwaukee Bucks. That was actually the year that the Air Jordan 1.5 was first crafted, in order to provide better cushioning to MJ’s recovering foot.
The color scheme of the Air Jordan 1.5 “Sand Dune” probably makes more sense now, considering that these hues once graced the jerseys of the Bucks back in the ’80s. The sneaker’s upper is actually made up of suede, which is dressed up predominantly in Sand Dune, while Gorge Green makes frequent appearance all over the sneaker. In fact, the Air Jordan 2 sole unit this sneaker is equipped with and the Jordan branding featured on it both also sport traces of red and white. Finally, Jordanheads know everything there is to know about the Air Jordan 1.5, including the fact that its Jordan release 2015 will take place on December 12th, alongside the Air Jordan 11 “72-10.”
