The BET Awards were held for the sixteenth time this year, just recently on June 26th. The Awards ceremony was already fuming in the summer heat, but the flaming joint performance of the song “All the Way Up” by Fat Joe, French Montana and Remy Ma really set fire to the atmosphere and the stage, metaphorically at least. French Montana handled the rapping, while the microphone was passed to Fat Joe and Remy Ma for the chorus. While Jay Z was spotted nowhere, even though the remix of this song features him, sneakerheads in the audience must have likely noticed the kicks Fat Joe was sporting.
As many Jordanheads are probably aware, this past weekend marked the retail debut of the Air Jordan 8 Championship Pack. While most Jordanheads headed out to cop a pair of the regular Air Jordan 8 “Champage” and “Cigar,” Fat Joe had apparently received an exclusive, special edition of the Air Jordan 8 “Champagne (Trophy).” Not only did he share a photo of the sneaker on his Instagram account (@fatjoe), he was also wearing it in Los Angeles during his recent performance at the BET Awards. As can be seen in the photo above, this version is equipped with custom lace locks featuring Joe’s face and the tongues are also sporting a “TS” patch, where the TS stands for Terror Squad.
While Fat Joe was recently laced up in the Gold- and White-colored Air Jordan 8 at the BET Awards, but it turns out that he also had a similar special version of the Air Jordan 8 “Cigar (Confetti)” as well. Unfortunately, that sneaker never made it to Los Angeles. The photo seen above was also posted by Fat Joe on his Instagram account, but the actual sneaker was retained by baggage in Las Vegas, although Joe claims they practically stole the 1-of-1 pair. Regardless, the two pairs from the Air Jordan 8 Championship Pack should still be available, even though each sneaker had recently retailed at a price of $250 on June 25th.
