The sneaker reselling business is booming, or so it seems, especially for StockX. It was back in mid-2015 when Dan Gilbert, the majority owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Josh Luber, a collector of rare limited or rare sneakers, had teamed up to establish StockX. The website, which can be described as “a stock market for sneakers,” provides a venue for buying and selling authentic sneakers. Considering that StockX is based in Detroit, which happens to be Eminem’s hometown, it is not surprising that the hip-hop legend and rap god is investing in the company alongside Paul Rosenberg, his manager.
In addition to investing in the company, Eminem has also partnered up with StockX to create some buzz with a giveaway that will include highly coveted sneakers from his own personal collection. That will include the Eminem x Carhartt x Air Jordan 4. It is a well-known fact that Eminem is a sneakerhead and he himself recently admitted that he always been hugely interested in sneakers. Apparently, Slim Shady is impressed and pleased with the direction StockX has taken in terms of sneaker reselling. Moreover, it seems that Eminem’s biggest motivation to team up with the company was learning that it was operating from downtown Detroit.
The sneaker giveaway that Eminem and StockX are kicking off seems to be quite spectacular. The Grand Prize of the giveaway will be the Eminem x Carhartt x Air Jordan 4 Retro, which has been purchased for up to $30,000. The Second Prize of the giveaway is the Yeezy Boost Pack, which includes the Boost 350, Boost 750 and Boost 950, and is worth approximately $3,000. The Third Prize of the giveaway is the Air Jordan 1 Pack worth approximately $1,750, which includes the 2013 “Bred,” 2015 “Chicago,” “Family Forever,” “LA” and “UNC” colorways of the model.
This giveaway will be valid till June 23. For a single entry into a giveaway, at least one sneaker trade, whether it is a purchase or sale, will have to be executed by a StockX member on the website.
