Within the sneaker community, it is no longer news that Drake has departed from Jordan Brand and is currently in the process of coming to terms on a deal with adidas. As you may or may not already know, the Air Jordan 4 Retro NRG “Raptors” is scheduled to make its retail debut on August 18th. The fact that Drake’s signature appears on the tongues suggests that he on Jordan Brand had teamed up for this colorway prior to his departure. Apparently though, another colorway of the model that has Drake’s name associated with it will be joining next year’s Air Jordan releases 2019.
Apparently, the Air Jordan 4 happens to be Drake’s favorite model from Jordan Brand’s line. No wonder, several of his former collaborations with Jordan Brand involved the Air Jordan 4. Back in June 2014, a photo of an OVO x Air Jordan 4 sample had surfaced. This iteration was dressed up in the Black, Gold and White color scheme of Drake’s record label, with its heels even featuring the “OVO owl” logo. Back in mid-May of this year, when Simon Voltaire Tan (@depeche23mode) shared a photo of the Air Jordan 4 colorway featured here, it was assumed that it was another OVO sample that would never hit the shelves.
The “Splatter” Colorway
Like the “Raptors” colorway, the Air Jordan 4 iteration featured here also has Drake’s name associated with it. Despite Drake himself no longer associated with Jordan Brand, this sneaker will be among next year’s Air Jordan releases 2019. Dubbed “Splatter,” this iteration gets its nickname from the multi-colored, confetti-like splatter that can be spotted over the midsoles. Overall dressed up in Black, Grey and White, it is actually a women’s colorway. A Gold-colored “OVO owl” logo can also be spotted on the inside of each tongue. While this Air Jordan 4 “Splatter” is expected to make its retail debut in February 2019, stay tuned to SneakersDog for more updates.
