Not so long ago, Drake knocked Meek Mill to the ground in a war of words that took place over the Internet and once the hype of the battle died down, Drake just went rather silent until the OVO Fest. Drake’s OVO Festival created quite a stir within the sneaker community. The Canadian rapper provided everyone in attendance at the Molson Amphitheatre an on-foot preview of two new OVO-themed Air Jordan colorways that are likely to arrive on one of the upcoming air jordan release dates 2015.
While Nike’s rival Adidas is busy gearing up for the release of the Yeezy Boost 350, Drake apparently decided to create some hype on behalf of Jordan Brand, considering that he is signed to the brand. On August 21st, the rapper from Toronto posted three new photos on his Instagram account that provided a much clearer glimpse of the all-black and all-white Air Jordan 8 renditions. Photos of the all-white pair are also accompanied by the caption “6IX YEARS,” which can be assumed is the nickname Drake has chosen for the colorway. The other iteration remains unnamed for now.
Nonetheless, unlike before when Drake wore these two sneakers on stage in the dark, it is now easier to make out the features visible on these kicks. For instance, both pairs are made up of tonal tumbled leather, while the heel is detailed with suede and gold OVO accents. Both pairs have also been given a personalized touch since they sport a red Jordan Jumpman on the tongue and an OVO Owl logo on the heel tab, while the white version also featues “6IX YEARS” spelled out on the crossing straps.
While Drake was kind enough to post photos of the upcoming OVO x Air Jordan 8 coloways, even he probably does not know which of the upcoming Jordan release dates will mark the debut of these kicks. So, while they wait, sneakerheads can start deciding which version they like better or whether they would like to cop both.
