Drake & Jordan Brand Have Designed An OVO x Air Jordan 8 “Calipari Pack”

There are not many music albums in history that have managed to rack up more than 1 billion streams. However, Nielsen Music just revealed that Drake’s blockbuster album/musical project More Life has managed to accomplish that. The stream count of the album is actually considerably higher because those 1 billion streams are just from within the United States. Merely a week after its release, More Life had already reached the top in the Billboard 200. Following the success of his latest project, it seems Drake is back working with Jordan Brand. This latest OVO project has been dubbed the Calipari Pack, consisting of two Air Jordan 8 colorways.

Drake recently shared two Instagram photos of the two iterations from the upcoming OVO x Air Jordan 8 Calipari Pack. Some sneakerheads are probably wondering, while others probably feel that name sounds familiar. That is because this Air Jordan 8 pack has been named after John Calipari, the head basketball coach of the Kentucky Wildcats, because Drake has a fondness for both the coach and the team. Another photo has also popped up, which suggesting that Drake has already hooked up DJ Khaled with the two Air Jordan 8 renditions. Both Drake and DJ Khaled can be seen in the photo, with the latter holding a shoe of each colorway.

Sneakerheads may not realize this but Drake has actually already laced up in both of these Air Jordan 8 sneakers at some point in the past year or so. However, now sneakerheads are getting a look at them together as a part of a single pack. Since this pack is inspired by the Kentucky Wildcats, especially their head coach, so it is not surprising that these sneakers are dressed up in the team’s official colors. One of the sneakers has predominantly Black-colored uppers, while the other has White-colored uppers, and they both feature Kentucky Blue-colored detailing and Red-colored “Jumpman” logos on the tongues. The only element that distinguishes these two sneakers is the speckles visible over the midsoles of the White iteration.

The fact that DJ Khaled now has a pair of both these kicks as a part of his sneaker collection does not mean that they are exclusive. In fact, both the sneakers from the OVO x Air Jordan 8 “Calipari Pack” are being expected to join the Jordan releases 2017 scheduled to be dropped later this year.
