“We The Best” was the title of DJ Khaled’s second studio album, which was released on June 12, 2007, back when he was a member of hip hop collective, Terror Squad. Earlier this year, DJ Khaled announced that his eleventh studio album would be titled “Father of Asahd.” In case you have not figured it out already, he named his album after his son, Asahd Tuck Khaled, who was born on October 23, 2016. The titles of his albums are now also a part of DJ Khaled’s latest collaboration with Jordan Brand since the two Air Jordan 3 colorways involved have been nicknamed after them.
DJ Khaled gave his Instagram followers a preview, of sorts, of his latest collaboration with Jordan Brand through a video that he posted on his profile (@djkhaled). In addition to serving as a means for a “NEW JORDAN ALERT,” this video was also an invite for his fans to join him at 7711 Melrose Ave in Los Angeles on September 24th between 4 PM and 8 PM. According to the video, a new “KHALED X JORDAN REVEAL” would be taking place there. One particular thing about the video that stood out was the silhouette of the Air Jordan 3 that could be seen at the beginning.
Indeed, not one but two similar-looking colorways of Air Jordan 3 were unveiled there, dubbed “We The Best” and “Father Of Asahd.” In fact, they both look identical from afar, due to their nearly all-Blue uppers with elephant print overlays. However, the uppers of the “We The Best” iteration are made up of leather, while those of the “Father Of Asahd” iteration are made up of suede. Unfortunately, neither of these will be joining upcoming Air Jordan releases 2018.
