Ever since 2016 kicked off, retro Air Jordan releases have been hitting the shelves almost week after week. Many Air Jordan colorways that have already been dropped a couple of times over the past decade or so have either already arrived at retailers or are scheduled to be available sometime this year. These sneakers include the Air Jordan 1 “Bred,” the Air Jordan 5 “Black/Metallic” and the Air Jordan 7 “Olympic.” Generally, the Air Jordan 11 is one particular model that does not make frequent appearances on retail shelves in a year, but two new colorways of its low-top form will be available soon.
The Air Jordan 11 Low “Cherry” or “Varsity Red,” which is undoubtedly the most anticipated sneaker of summer 2016, finally got a release date earlier this month. Jordanheads may or may not know this but this “Varsity Red” iteration is not exactly a brand new one. It was back in 2001 when Jordan Brand had originally dropped this “Cherry” rendition of the Air Jordan 11 Low. It is being reported that this year’s returning retro version has received the remastered treatment. Instagram user @J23app has even reported that this sneaker will make its retail debut as a Quicstrike release along with another colorway of the same silhouette.
Unlike the iteration mentioned above, this will be the very first time that the Air Jordan 11 Low “Navy/Gum” is arriving at retailers. It was back in March of this year when Jordanheads had gotten their first look at this sneaker. The sneaker’s predominantly mesh uppers are entirely dressed up in Navy, including the patent mudguard that is wrapped around each shoe. To add some contrast, the sneaker is also equipped with plain White midsoles and gum rubber outsoles.
According to @J23app both the Air Jordan 11 Low “Cherry” or “Varsity Red” and the “Navy/Gum” will hit the shelves on June 4th. They will apparently retail in both adult and GS sizes at prices of $170 and $130, respectively. However, Jordanheads who want to add a pair of both or either of these two sneakers to their collection before anyone else does, all they need to do is head over to where they are available.
