Jimmy Butler getting traded by the Chicago Bulls to the Minnesota Timberwolves is being as the opposite of when the Timberwolves traded Kevin Garnett. It was back in 2007 when the Minnesota Timberwolves traded Kevin Garnett to the Boston Celtics and the team consequently made quite a comeback. The general opinion is that gaining Jimmy Butler will have a similar result and he will become the leader that the Timberwolves need. After all, he is an All-Star and quite a tough defender. However, he obviously no longer be spotted on the court rocking red-colored sneakers, such as this Air Jordan 31 Low “Gym Red” featured here.
Jimmy Butler is going to serve as a mentor that his young teammates can learn from and look up. Last season, the Minnesota Timberwolves won merely 31 games, which leads Jimmy Butler to rightly believe that they have a lot to learn. Even back when he was a member of the Chicago Bulls, Jimmy would take the other younger members of the roster to Los Angeles, where they would train and work together. Now that he is a part of the Timberwolves, Jimmy plans to do the same. Jimmy Butler believes that playing “the right type of basketball” will enable the Timberwolves to start winning games.
If sneakerheads recall, it was Jimmy Butler who debuted the Air Jordan 31 Olympics during the 2016 Summer Olympics that was hosted in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It cannot be denied that the color scheme of this sneaker draws inspiration from the Chicago Bulls and perhaps it is meant to serve as a reminder of Jimmy Butler’s departure from the team. The Flyweave uppers of this sneaker, even its inner lining and laces, are dressed up completely in a Gym Red hue, which also covers most of its FlightSpeed midsoles and translucent outsoles. However, the Elephant Print can be spotted over the leather heels and the midsoles appear to be chromed back there.
While Jimmy Butler may not rock the Chicago Bulls-themed sneakers on the court any time soon, such as the one featured here, sneakerheads can still cop and wear this particular one. This Air Jordan 31 Low “Gym Red” is actually scheduled to join this very month’s Air Jordan releases 2017 as it will make its retail debut on June 30th with a price tag of $160.
