This year, Jordan Brand seems to be on a spree of creating and releasing Retro-inspired hybrid Air Jordan sneakers, even though they have not been received very warmly. However, 23isBack readers will agree that the Air Jordan 1 ’99 has proven to be the best of the most recent series of hybrids. After all, it is a hybrid model that has brought together the Air Jordan 1 Mid and the Air Jordan 14, both of which happen to be legacy models. Following the release of two new colorways last month, another colorway of the AJ 1 ’99 is on its way, with a date of release among the most recent August 6, 2014 Jordan release dates.
Jordan Brand had provided its loyal fans with a first glimpse at the Air Jordan 1 ’99 “Black/Sport Blue-Infrared” back in April. By looking at this pair, it should be obvious that it is combination of the Air Jordan 1 and the Air Jordan 14, the final Championship sneaker to be worn by Michael Jordan. It is undeniable that the rubberized heel and the signature stitching featured on the Air Jordan I ’99 are the same as those of the 14, while the same nylon material has also been used for its tongue construction as well. As for the Air Jordan 1 Mid, its silhouette itself serves as the sneaker’s base.
The accents on this particular Air Jordan I ’99 sneaker appear to be in sport blue, a color that has been quite popular as of lately. However, the branding at the posterior of the shoe and the midsole stitching are both in infrared. However, the main attraction is the black base, which makes this quite a dark yet stunning sneaker. Unlike previously, 23isBack readers should not expect that an Air Jordan 14 will also be released in this colorway. Nonetheless, they can add August 6 to their list of Jordan release dates 2014, since that is when this pair is hitting the shelves.
