Jordan Brand seems to have once again drawn inspiration from Michael Jordan‘s Alma mater for one of next year’s Air Jordan releases 2019. Of course, this is not the first time that an Air Jordan 1 colorway has been inspired by the North Carolina Tar Heels. In fact, the OFF–WHITE x Air Jordan 1 “UNC” made its retail debut earlier this year, on June 19th, at a price of $190. The Air Jordan 1 has also featured patent leather in the past. However, it is after quite a long time that Jordan Brand will be releasing a premium Air Jordan 1 rendition completely made up of patent leather.
It seems that 2017 will mark the first time that Jordan Brand will be officially collaborating with Converse. Back in 1908 when Converse was established, it was merely a rubber shoe company and galoshes were their specialty. Eventually, they began making sneakers using the same rubber and those sneakers have grown to become quite popular over the years. Their daily production was well-underway by 1919 and they started manufacturing the athletic Converse sneakers by 1915 and onwards. Converse and Jordan Brand have never collaborated in the past, but there is a first time for everything. Apparently, this collaboration will involve the Air Jordan 2 and the Converse Pro Leather.
