Drake and Jordan Brand pay tribute to Charles Oakley with this Air Jordan 8 PE, which may or may not join upcoming Air Jordan releases 2019. Much like Jordan Brand, “Toronto’s Very Own” Drake has had close ties with the Toronto Raptors, the team that Charles Oakley was a member of between 1998 and 2001. Since the Air Jordan 8 is one of Drake’s favorite sneaker models from Jordan Brand, an Air Jordan 8 “OVO” Pack was released last year on February 16th, 2018.
For the past half decade or so, Drake has been one of Jordan Brand’s most coveted collaborator and partner. Jordan Brand’s recent NBA All-Star Weekend Air Jordan releases 2018 also included two OVO x Air Jordan 8 colorways. As has been the case with previous OVO x Jordan Brand releases, one colorway was nearly all-Black while the other was nearly all-White, while both featured varying Gold-colored accents and Red over the branding. Apparently, the insides of the tongues also had “Welcome” embroidered onto them. However, recent reports seem to be suggesting that this highly acclaimed partnership may not last long and might be nearing its culmination. It took Drake mere 10 years to achieve the status of an icon in the world of rap. Some people are just too damn lucky, especially if they have a mother like Drake’s. While his hits are definitely soaring today, it seems that back in 2006, the Canadian rapper was under quite a lot of debt that he needed to pay back. However, Drake himself likely did not fail impress all the Jordanheads in the crowd since they must have delighted to catch a glimpse of the Air Jordan 12 OVO “White” pair that he was laced up at the at Barclays Center.
