The opening night of the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men’s basketball season took place on November 6th, 2018. In the past, there have been complaints that the college basketball’s opening night has not been adequately celebrated, but that is no longer the case. The recent opening night was very eventful, with the highlight being the two top-10 matchups of the 2018 Champions Classic. The Duke Blue Devils dominated opening night and defeated the Kentucky Wildcats with a score of 118-84. However, the Georgetown Hoyas, Marquette Golden Eagles, Michigan Wolverines, and the North Carolina Tar Heels also stood out for being laced up in Air Jordan 33 PEs.
On September 30th, the Michigan Wolverines unveiled its new basketball jerseys that will be worn by its male and female roster during the upcoming 2016–17 NBA season. Apart from the University of Michigan, there are currently just three other college schools that are associated with Jordan Brand. These include Georgetown University, Marquette University and University of North Carolina. It was back in 2015 when the University of Michigan had signed a contract with Nike worth $173 million, which will not expire until 2030.
