The Air Jordan 3 “Katrina” was originally auctioned exclusively on eBay as a charity endeavor by Jordan Brand to raise money, following the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Katrina that year. Alternately also referred to as the “Fire Red” colorway, it was never officially released on a wider scale. Back in 2014, rumors began circulating that a slight variation of the sneaker would be hitting the shelves on March 8th that year, which later turned out to be false. Now that it is actually joining this year’s Air Jordan releases 2018, Jordan Brand and Sneaker Politics hosted a block party, which included an limited early release of the sneaker. The Air Jordan 3 “Katrina” From 2006 Will Finally Retail In Summer 2018

Jordan Brand had whipped up the Air Jordan 3 “Katrina” back in 2006. As its name suggests, it was designed specifically to support the victims of Hurricane Katrina and so, it was exclusively available through a charity auction. In case readers do not recall, Hurricane Katrina was a Category 3 storm that made landfall at the U.S. Gulf Coast August 29th, 2005, early in the morning, with 127 miles per hour of winds. From the Gulf Coast, the storm stretched across approximately 400 miles. Hurricane Katrina led to a total of over 1,800 fatalities, spread across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.
