The upcoming basketball season will soon kick off. In the meantime, preseason activities are underway and college basketball teams are going all out with their recruitment efforts on the court. The University of North Carolina is also getting ready for its “Late Night With Roy” event that takes place every year. 2016’s event will be hosted by Jesse Holley, who was a member of the Tar Heels men’s basketball team when they won the National Championship. The University of North Carolina certainly have their hands full, but apparently they also had the time to redesign their locker room to feature a special, complete Air Jordan collection. A recently leaked photo of baby sized sneakers revealed that the Air Jordan 12 “Flu Game” from 1997 is going be amongst the air jordan release dates 2016 alongside a few other colorways of the Air Jordan 12. However, these are not the only iterations of the twelfth Air Jordan signature sneaker that will be arriving at retailers next year on one of the Jordan release dates 2016. Apparently it is being rumored that next year’s Air Jordan 12 releases are also going to include the “Carolina Blue” iteration that has never been released before. Out of all the iterations of the iconic Jordan Brand sneaker models that are available are at retailers, perhaps the currently most popular rendition would be the Dover Street Market x Air Jordan 1. This patent leather Air Jordan 1 pair that can be seen here is likely to be mistaken for another Dover Street Market x Jordan Brand collaboration. However, not only is it nothing of the sort, it also happens to be a pair that will not be retailing at any of the Jordan release dates 2015.
In the previous week, another patent leather Air Jordan 1 had hit the shelves and now, photos of another glossy looking Air Jordan 1 sneaker has been circulating throughout the Internet. This is actually quite a legendary Air Jordan 1 colorway that has never made an original retail debut. However, Jordanheads will be disappointed to learn that new jordans visible here is merely a sample, which means that is not going to be released any time soon and they will not be able to cop it.
Unlike the tonal Navy hue that covers the upper of the Dover Street Market x Air Jordan 1 iteration, the upper of this AJ 1 sample has been dressed up in Carolina Blue. Of course, the upper is made of patent leather and the Carolina Blue hue featured over it is quite vibrant. It is definitely sad news that Jordan Brand did not decide to mass produce this sample once and bring it within the reach of sneaker collectors who would gladly grab it.
The use of patent leather is apparently a part of Jordan Brand’s experimentation with their various sneaker silhouettes. Now that it has been clarified, Jordanheads can stop dreaming about this sample patent leather Air Jordan 1 and look forward to other upcoming Jordan release dates 2015. In fact, they may even consider copping the Air Jordan 1 High “UNC” that will hit the shelves on October 31st.
