As Jordan Brand continues to team up with Travis Scott this year, many upcoming Air Jordan releases 2019 will feature “Cactus Jack” branding. As he joined Maroon 5 and fellow rapper Big Boi to perform during this year’s Super Bowl LIII halftime show, Travis Scott was laced up in a never-before-seen Air Jordan 6 “Cactus Jack” pair. Surprisingly, no surprise release via the Nike SNKRS app took place during the halftime show. Furthermore, Big Boi was rocking an Oregon Ducks-themed pair of the Air Jordan 3. Last but not least, Maroon 5’s Adam Levine was wearing Travis Scott’s own Air Jordan 1 “Cactus Jack,” which will be discussed below.
One of the recent Air Jordan releases 2019 was an “All–Star” colorway of the Air Jordan 33 that debuted a month before the All–Star Weekend. Earlier this month, Jordan Brand released an all–Red Air Jordan 33 iteration that looked like a hybrid of the Air Yeezy 2 “Red October” and the Don C x Air Jordan 2 due to featuring similar quilted uppers. In commemoration of the Chinese New Year, which officially begins on February 5th, a “Year of the Pig” colorway of the Air Jordan 33 will also be making its retail debut next month. The Chinese New Year is scheduled to begin on February 5th and Jordan Brand will commemorate the festival with two Air Jordan releases 2019. Nike is actually commemorating the Year of the Pig with an entire collection. The collection includes the Air Max 90, Air Max 98, Air Max 270 and the Kyrie 5. Also included is the Chuck 70. As a part of this collection, Jordan Brand will be dropping special colorways of two different models, namely the Air Jordan 12 and the Air Jordan 33. All of these sneakers will feature Chinese zodiac-inspired detailing and patterns, as well as Bai Jia Yi, which is Chinese patchwork.
The Air Jordan 33 has once again joined recent Air Jordan releases 2018, this time in the “Utility Blackout” colorway seen back in October. In case you have forgotten, the Air Jordan 33 was officially unveiled during a special event in Los Angeles on September 20th, 2018. The unveiling event was an immersive experience where things like movement–mapping sessions took place and new apparel was showcased. The Air Jordan 33 “Utility Blackout” featured here was first unveiled as a part of Jordan Brand’s Holiday Season collection, which several other colorways of the model. All of those colorways, including the “Utility Blackout,” have hit the shelves as of now.
Jordan Brand‘s latest signature sneaker model finally made its retail debut, joining the Air Jordan releases 2018 last month. This model was the highly-anticipated Air Jordan 33, which was officially introduced on September 20th, 2018. The Air Jordan 33 initially arrived exclusively in China in the “Tech Pack” colorway. It eventually became available worldwide on October 18th, 2018 in the “Future Flight” colorway, which retailed at a price of $175. The colorway was named after its “Future of Flight” tagline. Following its release, you have already seen a couple of Air Jordan 33 PEs. The next Air Jordan 33 colorway to hit the shelves will be the “Visible Utility.”
The opening night of the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men’s basketball season took place on November 6th, 2018. In the past, there have been complaints that the college basketball’s opening night has not been adequately celebrated, but that is no longer the case. The recent opening night was very eventful, with the highlight being the two top-10 matchups of the 2018 Champions Classic. The Duke Blue Devils dominated opening night and defeated the Kentucky Wildcats with a score of 118-84. However, the Georgetown Hoyas, Marquette Golden Eagles, Michigan Wolverines, and the North Carolina Tar Heels also stood out for being laced up in Air Jordan 33 PEs.
