Amidst this month’s Air Jordan releases 2019, Jordan Brand will release an Air Jordan 3 “Tinker” inspired by the original Nike Air Max 1. If you know your sneaker history well enough, you may have probably figured out why Jordan Brand has chosen to draw inspiration from the Nike Air Max 1 OG colorway for this upcoming Air Jordan 3 “Tinker” iteration. It was Tinker Hatfield who actually began working on the Air Max 1 back in the mid-1980s, applying his architectural background to the design of the sneaker model. Ultimately, the Air Max 1 debuted on March 26th, 1987 as Nike’s first sneaker model equipped with Air cushioning.
The Air Jordan 3 RTR EXP Lite variation, which is designed to look like a tactical boot, will soon join this year’s Air Jordan releases 2019. This is definitely not the first time that Jordan Brand has transformed one of the iconic Air Jordan models into a boot. Take for instance the Air Jordan 9 Retro NRG Boot that made its retail debut last year in two different colorways. However, the Air Jordan 3 RTR EXP Lite is more reminiscent of the Air Jordan 1 variations from last year’s “Reimagined” Collection. In fact, Jordan Brand even released an Air Jordan 3 Explorer XX last year.
