Jordan Brand will be introducing two brand new, futuristic sneaker models as a part of this year’s Air jordan releases 2019. Despite borrowing from the Air Jordan 3, the Air Jordan 33 looks nothing like it. As in the past, the Air Jordan 33 introduced Jordan Brand’s latest performance innovation, the FastFit system. The design of the Air Jordan 33 made it apparent that it had a “space flight” theme, along with having a somewhat exposed and deconstructed look. However, Jordan Brand’s venture into futuristic, technological advanced footwear is stepping beyond the Air Jordan 33 with the two new sneaker models, the Apex-Utility and the Proto Utility.
The Jordan Apex-Utility
Jordan Brand’s former NRG designer Frank Cooke shared the very first photo of the Apex–Utility back in August 2018. At the time, it was assumed to be a hybrid Air Jordan 1 model equipped with REACT cushioning. The fact of the matter is that the basic design of the Jordan Apex-Utility is actually that of the Air Jordan 1 Flyknit. However, it has been modified to look like a moon–boot with features like padded ankles and tongues, and heel straps. Of course, it is indeed equipped with REACT cushioning and its soles have a noodling traction pattern underneath them, which makes the Apex-Utility somewhat of an all–terrain sneaker.
The Jordan Proto React
Jordan Brand’s second futuristic sneaker model is the Proto React, which is actually a lifestyle shoe. While Jordan Brand has undeniably designed lifestyle sneakers previously and continue to do so, none of them can be compared to the Proto React. Like the Air Jordan 33, it also is also space flight-inspired and so it is equipped with similar exposed stitching and straps, in addition to have nylon uppers, somewhat mimicking an astronaut’s suit. It is also features the REACT foam–based midsoles. Unlike the Apex–Utility, the Proto React will be debuting in multiple colorways as a part of upcoming Air Jordan releases 2019 at some point in Spring this year.
