This year, Tinker Hatfield got to bring his original Air Jordan sketches to life by designing renditions of several different models to resemble what they could have ended up looking like. The first of these was the Air Jordan 3 “Tinker,” which made its retail debut on March 24th this year at a price of $200. Later in July, it was revealed that the Air Jordan 13 would receive the same treatment. However, this “Tinker” rendition was chosen to be a completely different model and was named the Air Jordan Black Cat. It will now be joining upcoming Air Jordan releases 2018 in a “Space Jam” colorway.
The Air Jordan Black Cat was originally going to be just a one-time “Tinker” variation of the Air Jordan 13. Apparently though, Jordan Brand decided that they would release more colorways of it in due time. The Air Jordan Black Cat debuted in a “Bred” colorway. Of course, it was based on Tinker Hatfield’s original sketch of the Air Jordan 13. Compared to the Air Jordan 13, it has a considerably shorter cut and is equipped with midfoot straps. Also, it features a triangle-shaped hologram with “Jumpman” branding instead of a circular one. Other than that though, its design is pretty much the same as the Air Jordan 13.
As mentioned, the Air Jordan Black Cat debuted in the iconic “Bred” colorway. Of course, the “Space Jam” colorway is equally iconic, having first appeared on the Air Jordan 11, worn by Michael Jordan in the 1996 animated/live-action comedy sports film of the same name. Hence, the Air Jordan Black Cat “Space Jam” is also predominantly dressed up in Black. It also has plain White midsole pods, while Concord can be spotted over the “Jumpman” logo within the triangle-shaped hologram and over the outsoles. The Air Jordan “Black Cat” is currently available in Japanese retailers for $150. It will soon join upcoming Air Jordan releases 2018 on Nike.com too.
