This Air Jordan 8 Is Inspired By Michael Jordan’s First NBA Championship Three-Peat

The pinnacle of Michael Jordan’s professional basketball career was when he completed his first NBA Championship Three-Peat. The last time a team in the NBA did so was back in 1966 and it was by the Boston Celtics. It was on June 20th, 1993 when the Chicago Bulls won their third consecutive NBA Championship and Michael Jordan had played a major role in that victory. The victory made it seem like the Phoenix Suns did not even stand a chance to defeat the two-time defending champs. Drawing inspiration from that Three-Peat victory, Jordan Brand whipped up a brand new colorway of the Air Jordan 8, which arrives soon.

In the NBA, achieving a Three-Peat is no ordinary feat and it was Michael Jordan’s guidance that led the Chicago Bulls towards this accomplishment. Of course, during the 1992–93 NBA season, the Chicago Bulls were already favorites to come out victorious with their third NBA Championship win. However, going head to head against the Phoenix Suns had proven to be quite challenging and managing to defeat them was nothing short of remarkable. The competition was indeed, but Michael Jordan made history by scoring an average of almost 40 points a game. Surprising, it was John Paxson from the Bulls who scored the final bucket for the historic win.

The Air Jordan 8 colorway featured here, which is believed to be inspired by the Michael Jordan’s first NBA Championship Three-Peat along the Chicago Bulls, is being referred to as both “Bred” and “Cement.” The uppers of this sneaker appear to be made up of leather and suede, predominantly dressed up in sleek Black. The colorway gets its “Bred” nickname from the Red-colored detailing in the form of the “Jumpman” branding and its outsoles. It gets its “Cement” nickname from the fact that both its heel counters and midsoles feature Cement Grey-colored accents. As a nod to the Three-Peat victory, the back tabs apparently also feature “1993.”

It has been a while an Air Jordan 8 releases has joined the Jordan releases 2017 that Jordan Brand has been dropping, so sneakerheads are probably eager to cop a pair of this upcoming one. However, they will have to wait nearly two months because this Air Jordan 8 “Bred” / “Cement” is scheduled to retail at a price of $190 on September 16th, 2017.
