In 2017, Jordan Brand seems to be quite interested in dropping colorways of its iconic models that are inspired by Michael Jordan’s alumni, the University of North Carolina. Earlier this month, Jordan Brand brought back the Air Jordan 11 Low “UNC.” Carolina Blue was one of the official colors of both UNC and the UNC Tar Heels, the team Michael Jordan played as a part of during his college years. Hence, such colorways are usually dubbed either “Carolina,” “Pantone” or “UNC.” Reports from reliable sources from Twitter users like @DJFolk and @soleheatonfeet, an Air Jordan 6 “UNC” will end up joining upcoming Air Jordan releases 2017.
Another recent University of California-inspired colorway was the Air Jordan 7 “Pantone,” which was once nothing more than a mere sample. The sneaker just made its retail debut not too ago on April 29th, so it should still be available at a price of $190. Back in March, Jordan Brand already dropped a UNC-inspired Air Jordan 6 colorway, but it arrived at retailers exclusively in GS sizes. Despite being dubbed “Still Blue,” it was quite obvious that it drew inspiration from Michael Jordan’s alumni. Many small-footed sneakerheads probably copped a pair of the Air Jordan 6 GS “Still Blue” when it hit the shelves back on March 25th, 2017.
Sneakerheads may have already read about the reports and rumors that an Air Jordan 6 “Gatorade” will end up joining this year’s Air Jordan releases 2017. However, it turns out that Jordan Brand has also been working on an Air Jordan 6 “UNC.” The photo accompanying this post is just a rendering, so that does not mean that the actual sneaker may end up looking like this. However, if the Air Jordan 6 “UNC” ends up looking like this, it will be quite different from previous UNC-inspired colorways. So, it could end up having predominantly sleek Black uppers with Carolina Blue-colored accents and icy, translucent outsoles.
Official photos of the Air Jordan 6 “Gatorade” have not been released yet either, even though it has also received an official release date. As for this Air Jordan 6 “UNC,” it is reportedly scheduled to retail at a price of $190 on December 30th, so sneakerheads will have to wait until the end of 2017.
