For anyone who may not know, Gatorade happens to be a company that manufactures sports-themed beverages and food products. Just recently, Gatorade released a new advertisement titled “The Secret to Victory.” The advertisement stars a number of current and legendary athletes from a myriad of sports, such as Matt Ryan, Peyton Manning and Serena Williams, all of whom reveal what fuels them. Among them was none other than Michael Jordan himself, who is quite familiar with appearing in a Gatorade commercial. As sneakerheads may already know, his famous “Be Like Mike” Gatorade commercial has inspired two different upcoming colorways of the Air Jordan 6.
The “Be Like Mike” commercial debuted seventy-six years ago on August 8th, 1991. Anyone who grew up watching that commercial probably still remembers the catchy jingle. Michael Jordan would have ended up starring in a Coca-Cola commercial, had Gatorade not offered him $13.5 million to sign a 10-year deal with them and become Gatorade’s endorser. The original “Be Like Mike” Gatorade commercial featured highlight from Michael Jordan’s career along with scenes of Michael Jordan drinking Gatorade and playing basketball with young kids. One of the reasons the commercial ended up being so memorable throughout the world was because of the piece of music that are specifically composed for it.
Initially, it was uncertain if Jordan Brand would be dropping both of the Air Jordan 6 “Gatorade” colorways. Eventually though, it become apparent that both of them would be arriving at retailers. As can be seen, one of them appears to have leather uppers dressed up in a balanced combination of Summit White and Team Orange, with Black- and Gatorade Green-colored accents. The second one features suede uppers, which appear to be entirely covered in Gatorade Green, while Summit White appears over the soles and Team Orange-colored detailing can be spotted throughout. Both of these iterations are also equipped with Gatorade-inspired lace locks as well.
These two Air Jordan 6 “Gatorade” colorways were supposed to hit the shelves on October 28th, 2017, but apparently this is no longer the case. It seems that Jordan Brand has pushed back their retail debut, so they will apparently now be joining December’s Air Jordan releases 2017.
