The “Black/Infrared,” or simply “Infrared,” was one of the original colorways of the Air Jordan 6 that Jordan Brand dropped back in 1991. It was back in 2000 that the Air Jordan 6 “Black/Infrared” received the retro treatment for the first time. Originally, its heel featured the “Nike Air” branding. It again arrived in retro form on November 21, 2014 as that year’s Black Friday release from Jordan Brand. This time though, the “Jumpman” logo appeared on the heels. Rumor has it that not only might the Air Jordan 6 “Black/Infrared” make a comeback this year; it might return with the “Nike Air” branding.
In addition to joining this year’s upcoming Air Jordan releases 2018 and having been retro-ed twice before, the Air Jordan 6 “Black/Infrared” has also been restocked several times. In fact, the Air Jordan 6 “Black/Infrared” was among the sneakers that got restocked at House of Hoops in New York City back in February 2015. Back in May 2016, an Air Jordan 6 “Black/Infrared” sample was also unveiled. Almost similar to the colorway that Jordan Brand originally dropped, this version had a different color blocking on its midsoles. Its heels featured the “Jumpman” logo “AIR” beneath it and instead of icy outsoles, its outsoles appeared to be smoky.
Of course, if the rumors are true and it does end up being among upcoming Air Jordan releases 2018, then this year’s Air Jordan 6 “Black/Infrared” will exactly like the original. While the photo accompanying this post is not of the 2018 version, this is what it is going to look like. This means that its nearly all-Black nubuck uppers will feature accents covered in the same exact shade of Infrared 23. Most importantly though, the “Nike Air” branding will once again be present on the heels, just like the original and the 2000 retro. Keeping checking back to SneakersDog further details and updates about Air Jordan 6 “Black Infrared.”
