It was the second year of Michael Jordan’s career in the NBA when the Air Jordan 2 was designed, but it ended up making its retail debut during his third season, i.e. the 1987-88 NBA season. Along with the original, three other colorways were also released. When designing the Air Jordan 2, Bruce Kilgore and Peter Moore drew inspiration from Italian women’s boots from the 19th century. The unique thing about the Air Jordan 2 was that it was Jordan Brand’s first silhouette to have been made in Italy. Drawing inspiration from the high-end Italian design of the Air Jordan 2, Jordan Brand has whipped up this Air Jordan 32.
This Air Jordan 32 could end up being one of the limited and luxurious Air Jordan releases 2018. Originally, the Air Jordan 2 really was made in Italy. The tag on the inside of each tongue had “MADE IN ITALY” printed over it to signify that fact. For many years that followed after its debut in 1987, retro iterations of the Air Jordan 2 were not really made in Italy. However, that all changed when Don C selected the Air Jordan 2 for his collaboration with Jordan Brand. Thus, the Don C x Air Jordan 2 Retro, which featured plush quilted leather uppers, was also made in Italy.
The brand new Air Jordan 32 colorway that can be seen here does actually resemble the original Air Jordan 2, both in terms of its color scheme and its design. As a result, the luxurious aesthetic of this Air Jordan 32 iteration makes it look just like dress boots. Its uppers and its interiors predominantly consist of smooth leather, while its heels appear to be made up of croc-textured leather. As for its color scheme, this colorway seems to have borrowed the colors of the Italian flag, so its predominantly clean White-colored uppers are dressed up in Green- and Red-colored detailing.
While January’s Air Jordan releases 2018 have not included any Air Jordan 32 releases, but quite a few are scheduled to make their retail debut in February 2018. Even this seemingly high-end Air Jordan 32, inspired by the Air Jordan 2, is set to arrive on February 10th, 2018, but only 230 pairs will be available, each at a price of $225.
