Sneakerheads who had enjoyed and loved watching Space Jam for the very first time back in 1996 will be able to watch the live-action-animated film on the big screen once again this year. As they may already be aware, this year marks the the 20th anniversary of the classic and iconic sports comedy film. In celebration of this milestone, Space Jam is making a comeback to theaters all over the United States for two special days. Even Jordan Brand is commemorating the film’s 20th anniversary by bringing back the Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam.” However, apparently even the Air Jordan 31 is receiving the “Space Jam” treatment.
Fathom Events and Warner Brothers are responsible for bringing Space Jam back to the big screen for its 20th anniversary. The film had originally been released in the United States on November 15, 1996. Twenty years later, the film will hit theaters once again between 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM on November 13th, and at 7:00 PM on November 16th. Before the film is screened in the theaters, audience will also get to view the “I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Tat” animated short film from 2011 on the big screen as well, which itself is nothing short of a rarity.
As for sneakerheads, they had probably only been expecting to receive the another opportunity to cop a pair of the Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam,” which had originally made its retail debut back in 1996. Jordan Brand apparently has other plans and wants to provide them with a chance to choose from or cop two different Space Jam-themed sneakers this Holiday Season. The second sneaker will be the Air Jordan 31 featured here, which is dressed up in the same color scheme as the Air Jordan 11. Along with its signature Flyweave construction, its heels and ankles also have Black-colored patent leather incorporated into them.
Jordan Brand has been actively dropping Air Jordan 31 colorways as of lately, such as the “Chicago” iteration that hit the shelves on November 5th. As for the Air Jordan 31 “Space Jam,” it will make its retail debut on December 3rd, more than a week before the Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam” hits the shelves once again on December 10th.
