This Air Jordan 31 Is Included Among Jordan Brand’s All-Star Releases For 2017

The 2017 All-Star Game was bound to be dramatic and exciting from the get-go. Originally, the 2017 All-Star Game was scheduled to take place in Charlotte, North Carolina. However, this year’s game was moved to the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana due to the controversial and notorious transgender bathroom bill that was approved as law in North Carolina. Of course, the All-Star Game has been hosted by New Orleans twice before, but the circumstances under which this was decided were unexpected. Jordan Brand’s All-Star releases are not something out of the ordinary, but this year’s releases will include the Air Jordan 31 colorway featured here.

The NBA is hoping to hold the 2019 All-Star Game in Charlotte, North Carolina, but only if the matter involving the bathroom bill is appropriate resolved. Apart from the change in the game’s venue though, even the voting system was changed this year. In the past, the starters for the Eastern Conference team and Western Conference team would be voted exclusively by the fans. However, this year a panel of basketball media and current NBA athletes also joined in the voting. Thus, 2017’s Eastern Conference Starters include athletes like Jimmy Butler, LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, while the Western Conference Starters include James Harden, Kevin Durant and others.

Considering that the Air Jordan 31 is the latest model in Jordan Brand’s signature lineup, it is not surprising that that it has been included in their Air Jordan releases 2017 that commemorate this year’s All-Star Game. Even though the 2017 All-Star Game is no longer taking place in Charlotte, the Air Jordan 31 iteration draws inspiration from the city, also because Michael Jordan owns the Charlotte Hornets. As can be seen in the above official photo from Nike, the sneaker’s Flyweave uppers are covered in a honeycomb texture and are dressed up in sleek Black. Adding a pop of color, a fading iridescent gradient effect appears over its ankle areas, midsoles and Nike “Swoosh” branding on each side, where large all-White “Jumpman” logos can also be spotted.

The 2017 All-Star Game is scheduled to be take place on February 19th, 2017, but the All-Star Weekend usually kicks off before that. Hence, Jordan brand is dropping the Air Jordan 31 “All-Star” on February 16th, 2017 and it is set to retail at a price of $185.
