This year’s annual Quai 54 streetball tournament is scheduled to kick off on July 7 and conclude on July 8, 2018 at the Pelouse de Reuilly, Place du Cardinal Lavigerie – Porte 1 in Paris, France. Sponsored by Jordan Brand, Quai 54 happens to be the world’s biggest streetball tournament, with 16 elite teams representing 10 different nations taking part in it this year. A total of 160 amateur and professional players will be participating, while NBA players have also been invited. Unlike previous year, perhaps there might end up being a few Quai 54 Air Jordan releases, one of which is the Air Jordan 3 featured here.
Last year’s special Quai 54 release from Jordan Brand was the mismatched Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Quai 54.” It was a nearly all-Black iteration featuring mismatched Italy Blue- and University Red-colored detailing on each shoe, along with “Quai 54” branding on the tongues. It was later revealed that Jordan Brand had also whipped up another mismatched, almost tonal, exclusive Air Jordan 1 “Quai 54” version inspired by the French flag for family and friends. Players at the 2017 tournament were even spotted rocking special “Quai 54” colorways of the Air Jordan 31 and the Jordan Ultra Fly 2.
Since it is the 30th anniversary of the Air Jordan 3, it makes sense for the model to be chosen for this year’s primary Quai 54 release from Jordan Brand. Judging from all the photos, its uppers appear to be made up of soft suede, dressed up almost entirely in an ashy Black hue. Its sockliners seem to be slimmer and instead of the “Jumpman” logo, the “Quai 54” branding can be spotted on the heels. Perhaps the highlight of this sneaker is the multicolored, translucent rear portion of its midsoles, which features neon shades of Green, Blue and Pink. It is also equipped with translucent Blue-colored outsoles.
So far, this is merely the first look at the Air Jordan 3 “Quai 54” so there indeed no information or news about its release. As always though, a Quai 54 sneaker like this can be expected to join next month’s Air Jordan releases 2018 and it will likely end up hitting the shelves on July 7th or 8th, or somewhere around those dates.
