Whether you are an avid sneakerhead or a fan of basketball, or even both, you likely know about the Quai 54 World Streetball Championship. Teams from all over the world and thousands of spectators flock to Paris for the tournament. Since the beginning, Jordan Brand has sponsored the tournament and continues to do so. In addition to the 5-on-5 tournament, other events also take place over the course of the weekend, including a Dunk Contest. Like ever year, you can also expect Jordan Brand to drop some limited edition Air Jordan releases 2018. In fact, this year’s Quai 54 collection might revolve around the Air Jordan 3.
The Quai 54 tournament was started by Hammadoun Sidibé and Thibaut de Longeville, inspired by the streetball culture of New York City. The Playground Quai 54 basketball court was constructed at 92300 Levallois-Perret, Paris back in 2003 and the first tournament was held there that year. Although not participating themselves, Jordan Brand athletes like Jabari Parker, Kemba Walker and Victor Oladipo were the guest judges for last year’s Dunk Contest, while Evan Fournier of the Orlando Magic even took part the tournament. In addition to the whole basketball extravaganza, rappers like Gradur, Sadek, Tory Lanez and Young Thug have also performed live on the court.
Jordan Brand’s 2017 Quai 54 Collection included an Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG, an Air Jordan 31 and a Jordan Formula 23. So far, it is uncertain if Jordan Brand will be dropping multiple Air Jordan releases 2018 for this year’s Quai 54 tournament. However, twitter user PO! (@_PO2345) has revealed a special “Quai 54” iteration of the Air Jordan 3 will be one of the highlights. Apparently, it may end up being dressed up in a French-themed color scheme and it will mostly likely feature the “Quai 54” branding somewhere, either on the heels or the tongues. Moreover, it might be a Europe exclusive.
