The Air Jordan 3 “Katrina” From 2006 Will Finally Retail In Summer 2018

Jordan Brand had whipped up the Air Jordan 3Katrina” back in 2006. As its name suggests, it was designed specifically to support the victims of Hurricane Katrina and so, it was exclusively available through a charity auction. In case readers do not recall, Hurricane Katrina was a Category 3 storm that made landfall at the U.S. Gulf Coast August 29th, 2005, early in the morning, with 127 miles per hour of winds. From the Gulf Coast, the storm stretched across approximately 400 miles. Hurricane Katrina led to a total of over 1,800 fatalities, spread across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.

Almost 22 billion dollars were eventually spent on public works projects and recovery aid in the four Gulf states. In New Orleans alone, approximately 34,000 had to be rescued by the Coast Guard. In the Gulf region, the storm displaced over a million people. Drowning was the cause of a majority of the deaths, while injury trauma and even heart conditions led to a lot of deaths. In simple words, the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina was quite catastrophic. Thus, it was quite admirable of Jordan Brand to pitch in by designing an Air Jordan 3 colorway nicknamed after the hurricane itself and donating all the proceeds to charity.

It has already been 11 years since Hurricane Katrina struck and it seems that the special Air Jordan 3 colorway nicknamed after it will finally be available for the everyday sneakerheads to cop. It was not too long ago, it was revealed that the sneaker would be joining Jordan Brand’s Holiday Jordan releases 2017, but apparently this is no longer the case. The Air Jordan 3 “Katrina” looks slightly like a variation of the model’s “Fire Red” colorway, with predominantly clean White-colored uppers. It also featured Cement Grey-colored elephant print overlays, as well as Black- and Red-colored accents. The only exception will be that there will be no “Nike Air” branding on its heels.

However, this sneaker will not be hit the shelves during the 2017 Holiday Season. Instead, the Air Jordan 3 “Katrina” will be among next year’s SummerJordan releases 2017 and it will likely make its retail debut at a price of $190.
