The Air Jordan 3 Features Engineered Flyknit Uppers & Is Nicknamed “Black Cat”

Flyknit is Nike’s revolutionary, patent engineering technology that involves the use of pliable fibers and yarns for the construction of formfitting and seamless sneaker uppers. It involves the strategic placement of the fibers and yarns a single layer, while still ensuring that the sneaker’s uppers are breathable, flexible and supportive. Nike has been dropping Flyknit sneakers ever since the debut of this breakthrough technology. Last year, even Jordan Brand borrowed the technology, whipping up several Air Jordan 1 Flyknit releases, including the “Banned” and “BHM” colorways. One such iteration even joined the recent Air Jordan releases 2018 and now the Air Jordan 3 is receiving the Flyknit treatment too.

January 13 marked the retail debut of the Air Jordan 1 High Flyknit “Shadow” at a price of $180. Last month, Jordan Brand unveiled the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Flyknit “RE2PECT.” Its “RE2PECT” nickname should be enough to signify that this is somewhat of a collaborative release between Derek Jeter and Jordan Brand. Its Flyknit uppers are dressed up in a combination of Cream White and Obsidian, kind of seeming like a New York Yankees-inspired color scheme. Additionally, Metallic Gold covers the Jordan “Wings” logo on the sides and the tongue tabs. “THE CAPTAI2” can also be spotted beneath both of its icy outsoles.

As sneakerheads may already know, the Air Jordan 3 debuted thirty years ago back in 1988 and in commemoration of this milestone, Jordan Brand will be dropping numerous special releases this year. The Air Jordan 3 Flyknit featured here can be regarded as one such release. The Air Jordan 3 was originally designed by Tinker Hatfield, but this variation has been completely reimagined to feature completely engineered Flyknit uppers dressed up entirely in Black. The uppers actually appear to be multi-textured, sporting distinct patterns and even mimicking the silhouette’s elephant print overlays. This colorway has apparently been nicknamed “Black Cat

The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Flyknit “RE2PECT” has already joined last month’s Air Jordan releases 2018 since it arrived at retailers on February 23rd and retailed at a price of $180. However, Jordan Brand will drop this Air Jordan 3 Flyknit “Black Cat” on March 18, 2018 and it will retail at a price of $220.
