The Air Jordan 15 “Stealth” Or “Flight Jacket” Finally Returned After Nine Years

The North American X-15 was an experimental rocket plane. In the early 1960s, number of altitude and speed records were set by the X-15. The X-15 even brought back valuable data after reaching the edge of space. Many modern day aircrafts and spacecrafts are based on that data. The X-15 was the U.S. Air Force’s most successful X-plane program, back when U.S. aeronautical research wanted to utilize speed in order to dominate the skies. The X-15 really “took flight” and the Air Jordan 15 was inspired by it. Hence, it makes sense that the Air Jordan 15Stealth” is included in the “Take Flight” Pack.

Air Jordan 15 OG “Stealth”-2Along with borrowing design elements from the X-15, Tinker Hatfield also paid tribute to Michael Jordan’s favorite Italian designers with a number of the silhouette’s features. These features included the Air Jordan 15’s woven uppers and the vertical stripes running down its heels. Like the Air Jordan 15, it was NBA athletes like Ray Allen who helped promote the Air Jordan 15. Reggie Miller of the Indiana Pacers frequently laced up in the Air Jordan 15 during the 1999-2000 season. Eventually though, it seemed that the signature Air Jordan 15 line had come to an end, but chances are that the silhouette might resurface.

The Air Jordan 15 “Stealth,” which is now being referred to as the “Flight Jacket,” is making its comeback after nine years. It was one of the original colorways that the Air Jordan 15 debuted in back in 1999 and last time it hit the shelves was as a part of 2008’s Countdown Pack. This year’s version looks identical to the original, with predominantly Black-colored uppers, while the branding visible on its heels, toe boxes and unique tongues are covered in Varsity Red.

Air Jordan 15 OG “Stealth”-3After such a long time, the Air Jordan 15 in the “Stealth” colorway finally returned this year. Having been included in the “Take Flight” Pack by Jordan Brand, the Air Jordan 15 “Stealth” or “Flight Jacket” arrived at retailers on January 7th, 2017 and should still be available at a price of $190.
