As is widely known, Michael Jordan is one of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductees and the induction took place back in 2009. Back then, Jordan Brand has its own website, Jumpman 23 (Jumpman23.com), which now redirects to Nike.com. To celebrate the G.O.A.T.’s induction, a special online feature by the name of “History of Flight” was introduced on the website at that time. Following the launch of this featurette, Jordan Brand whipped an entire “History of Flight” collection for the brand’s 25th anniversary. The Air Jordan 13 “History of Flight,” which is scheduled to join upcoming Jordan releases 2017, was originally a part of that collection.
Jordan Brand’s “History of Flight” featurette on their former website somewhat resembled a pop-up book. Sneakerheads who visited the page back then were provided with some fun and interesting facts about each of the 24 Air Jordan models that had been released until then. The featurette was quite interactive and showcased all-White versions of all the models, along with a variety of different graphics. The Air Jordan “History of Flight” / “25th Anniversary” collection was relatively different though. It comprised of identical colorways of the Air Jordan 1 to 16, all of which were mostly plain White but also sported Red-colored detailing throughout.
Of course, none of the sneakers from that collection would up at retailers since they were all merely samples, including the Air Jordan 13 “History of Flight,” which will no longer be a sample anymore. The “History of Flight” color scheme was put together as homage to the days of Michael Jordan’s career when he was a member of the Chicago Bulls. Hence, the leather uppers of the Air Jordan 13 are predominantly clean White, while Red covers its inner lining and outsoles, and it is also equipped with Black-colored laces. Also featured is the signature holographic “Jumpman” branding, without which this silhouette would be incomplete.
No longer just a sample, the Air Jordan 13 “History of Flight” has finally made its retail debut on July 22nd, 2017, that too in full family sizes. The adult-sized pairs will retail at a price of $190 and the GS-sized pairs will retail at a price of $140 at select Jordan Brand stores and on Nike.com.
