Royal blue happens to be a both a bright and dark shade of variation of the blue hue, namely azure blue. After winning a competition to make a dress for Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, King George III’s wife, millers from the village of Rode in Somerset had ended up creating the royal blue hue. Royal blue can be described as falling somewhere between a deep and dark blue, while a faint reddish or purple tinge can also be spotted. Deep royal blue, as its name suggests, is a deeper variation of the royal blue hue, and Jordan Brand chose this variation to entirely cover this upcoming Air Jordan 12 iteration.
At some point back in the 1950s, royal blue was even regarded as a brighter shade of blue, and it is because of this thinking that “royal blue” was eventually chosen as a web color. Back in 1987, the colors that were formulated to display web pages were referred to as “X11 colors.” However, the “royalblue” web color is actually not the traditional royal blue hue, which is a darker version of blue, and as mentioned, deep royal blue is an even darker variation. It is after quite a long time that Jordan Brand will dropping a completely monochromatic iteration of the Air Jordan 12.
This brand new colorway, which is being described as buttery, will be joining this weekend’s Jordan releases. The uppers of this latest tonal rendition of the twelfth Air Jordan model are made up of suede. However, instead of mimicking the color scheme of the Air Jordan 11 “Suede,” the suede uppers of this Air Jordan 12 are dressed up in the Deep Royal Blue hue that has been discussed above. Despite being tonal, this iteration looks quite rich and vibrant.
Although this sneaker looks different in the various photos that are available online, sneakerheads will be able to get a proper look at it if they decide to cop a pair. The retail price of the Air Jordan 12 “Deep Royal Blue” will be $190 once it arrives at retailers on November 12th.
