As Jordan Brand keeps up with its annual tradition, so one of next year’s Air Jordan releases 2019 will celebrate the Chinese New Year. According to the Chinese zodiac, 2019 will be the Year of the Pig. The pig also happens to be the last animal in the Chinese 12–year cycle. The Chinese zodiac also claims that people born in the Year of the Pig tend to develop beautiful personalities and are likely to be blessed with good fortune in their lives. Much like last year and the years before it, Jordan Brand will once again be celebrating the Chinese New Year by releasing a new Air Jordan colorway.
Last Year Jordan Brand Released An Entire “Chinese New Year” Collection
2017 was the Year of the Rooster. Back in 2016, Jordan Brand had released an Air Jordan 5 Retro Low and a Jordan Super.Fly 4 in celebration of the Year of the Monkey. Last year, Jordan Brand not only celebrated the Year of the Rooster but also the Air Jordan 12’s 20th Anniversary as well. Jordan Brand’s 2017 “Chinese New Year” Collection made its retail debut in January last year on separate dates in China and the U.S. The collection included a variation of the Air Jordan 12 “Taxi,” a Gold– and Red-colored Air Jordan 12 GS colorway, and a colorway of the Air Jordan 31.
Jordan Brand Will Once Again Release An Air Jordan 12 Colorway For The Chinese New Year
As of now, it is uncertain whether or not Jordan Brand will be releasing multiple Air Jordan releases 2019 in celebration of the Chinese New Year. According to @sneakerjamz though, the Air Jordan 12 colorway you see here will be Chinese New Year-themed. In case the color scheme of this iteration looks familiar, it is likely because it actually resembles that of the Air Jordan 12 Retro “Wings” from 2016. Some kind of a multi–colored pattern can also be spotted over its inner lining, similar to that featured on the recent Nike Air Max 98 “Chinese New Year.” It also appears to be equipped with Metallic Gold hardware.
