Apparently, the designers at Jordan Brand have an avid interest in replacing the traditional, signature patent leather mudguard overlays of the Air Jordan 11 with those made of faux snakeskin material. In recent years, leaked photos have surfaced of a number of Air Jordan 11 iterations featuring snakeskin mudguard overlays. Unfortunately, just about all of these were samples and so they never hit the shelves, nor are they going to make their retail debut any time soon. The only exception was the Air Jordan 11 Low “Snakeskin,” which actually became available seventeen years ago. Reportedly, it will be making its comeback next year, joining the Air Jordan releases 2019.
Back in February 2015, photos were leaked of an Air Jordan 11 “Snakeskin” sample that featured Green-colored faux snakeskin mudguards over its Black-colored mesh uppers. According to its inner tongue tab, this Air Jordan 11 Retro iteration was made in Taiwan and its color scheme consisted of Black, Nightshade, Volt and White. Last year in August, Drake shared a video on his official Instagram account (@champagnepapi). Through that video, he gave his followers a look at two unreleased kicks. Two of them were Air Jordan 11 iterations featuring Grey- and Pink-colored faux snakeskin mudguard overlays, and had “45” instead of “23” embroidered on their heels.
Jordan Brand is known for releasing relatively more Air Jordan 11 Low releases compared to those of its mid-top counterpart. zSneakerHeadz recently shared the photo at the top on Instagram. The Air Jordan 11 Low “Snakeskin” you see in the photo at the top originally made its retail debut back in May 2001. While it will indeed be joining the Air Jordan releases 2019 during the summer, the photo you see above is not of next year’s version. Nonetheless, it will feature the same Navy-colored faux snakeskin mudguards over its plain White uppers. Keep checking back to SneakersDog for more updates about this returning Air Jordan 11 Low “Snakeskin.”
