The 1993 NBA Finals was the last game that Michael Jordan participated in before retiring from the sport to pursue a professional baseball career and the Air Jordan 10 debuted a year after that. Although Michael Jordan was not around to be the first to rock the Air Jordan 10 on the court, he did lace up in the Air Jordan 10 “Chicago” in his first game after returning back in March 1995. Of course, the Air Jordan 10 was designed by Tinker Hatfield. Keeping with a particular recent trend, it seems that a “Tinker” rendition of the tenth model will also be joining upcoming Air Jordan releases 2018.
Following Michael Jordan’s seemingly permanent retirement, his signature “23” basketball jersey number was retired. So, he had to switch to number “45” for a brief period of time, until his former number was un-retired once again. Between that period, PE iterations of the Air Jordan 10 designed only for him actually featured “45” instead of “23,” including the “Chicago” pair that he wore. Tinker Hatfield designed the Air Jordan 10 as a tribute to Michael Jordan, which is the reason his NBA career achievements and highlights are inscribed beneath both the soles. After the Air Jordan 1, the Air Jordan 10 has the second-most OG colorways.
Like the other “Tinker” iterations that have been unveiled so far, the Air Jordan 10 featured here is also likely inspired by Tinker Hatfield’s original sketch of the model. Additionally, the color scheme that it appears to be dressed up in is apparently inspired by the Nike Air Huarache Light OG “Ultramarine,” which was last seen back in 2004. The image accompanying this post is actually a Photoshop rendering created by Instagram users Sneaker Info. (@pinoe77) and zSneakerHeadz (@zsneakerheadz). Its uppers appear to be dressed up in a combination of Black and Racer Blue, with plain White midsoles and Team Orange covering its rubber outsoles.
