The Air Jordan 1 Rare Returns With Nike Air Branding On The Heels

Around the time that the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Chicago” was on the verge of making its comeback, Jordan Brand introduced a brand new variation of the iconic model. Jordan Brand revealed that this version of the silhouette was dubbed “Rare Air” and that is how sneakerheads came to know about the Air Jordan 1 “Rare Air.” Back when it was first unveiled, the AJ1 Rare Air was dressed up in a rather simplistic color scheme of Black, Red and White. Not only has the “Rare Air” edition joined the Air Jordan releases 2017, apparently it will arrive at retailers with a minor upgrade.

This actually suggests that the AJ1 Rare Air draws inspiration from some very early samples of the model that had also featured the text instead of the usual “Wing” branding. Another feature makes the AJ1 Rare Air sneakers quite unique is the fact that the tongue tags can be removed and the clear velcro panels reveal “Rare Air” underneath them.

The AJ1 Rare Air has been on somewhat of a hiatus, considering that it has not been a part of 2016’s Air Jordan releases. Through 2016, Jordan Brand has dropped numerous Air Jordan 1 colorways, from regular to premium ones. However, once the time comes for Air Jordan releases 2017 to hit the shelves, the three Rare Air iterations featured here will also make their way to retailers. These three colorways are officially named “Max Orange/Black-White,” “Soar Blue/Black-White” and “Cool Grey/Black-White.” Despite looking like any other Rare Air release, the heels of these renditions actually feature tonal, embroidered “Nike Air” branding dressed in the respective primary hue of each.

The only fact that is know at the moment is that these three Air Jordan 1 Rare Air colorways will make their retail debut somewhere in January 2017.
