By now, the upcoming arrival of the Air Jordan 1 Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Homage To Home” has likely become common knowledge. However, you probably do not know why decided to whip up such a hybrid colorway, adding it to this year’s Air Jordan releases 2018. In fact, there is a reason that Jordan Brand opted to merge these two particular OG colorways, namely the “Bred’ and “Chicago.”
Back in 1985, the Air Jordan 1 was originally released in a plethora of colorways. However, the “Bred” and “Chicago” were two colorways that were the most memorable and Michael Jordan actually laced up in them during his prime. Referred to as “the devil’s colors” at one point by Michael Jordan, Black, Red and White ended up becoming his signature color scheme.
Off the court, Michael Jordan certainly rocked numerous other colorways at the time, such as the Air Jordan 1 “Game Royal.” Of course, in order to comply with the NBA’s “uniformity of uniform rule,” Michael Jordan could only wear sneakers dressed up in a Black, Red and White color scheme, at least until he played for the Chicago Bulls. On February 10th, 1985, Michael Jordan actually ended up lacing up in both the Air Jordan 1 “Bred,” which is often referred to as the “Banned” colorway, and the Air Jordan 1 “Chicago.”
No one could have guessed though that these two iconic colorways would be brought together in such a way. As you may also know, the Air Jordan 1 “Homage To Home” is longitudinally split between these two colorways, right in the middle. The other sides of each shoe are dressed up in the “Bred” color scheme, while the inner sides in the “Chicago” color scheme.
The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Homage To Home” will make its retail debut at a price of $160 on April 21st, 2018. These limited numbers of pairs will be numbered with the words “FROM” and “FOR” embroidered onto the left and right heel, respectively.
