The Air Jordan 1 “Homage To Home” From 2017 Debuts In April 2018

The origin of Jordan Brand can be traced back to one very particular NBA athlete, who was the star player of the Chicago Bulls back in 1985. The brand was ultimately named after him. He was eventually dubbed the G.O.A.T. He is none other than Michael Jordan. Since most of the illustrious moments of his career took place while he was a member of the Chicago Bulls, the team has been one of the foremost sources of inspiration for iconic Air Jordan colorways. Two such colorways were the Air Jordan 1Bred” and “Chicago,” which Jordan Brand combined in a single, brand new iteration last year.

Back in August 2017, Jordan Brand unveiled a colorway of the Air Jordan 1 that was referred to as “Homage To Home.” The sneaker featured the original Air Jordan 1 silhouette, but the colorway itself could be best described as a hybrid of two previous, classic colorways. While it was Nike Air Ship that Michael Jordan was banned from wearing by the NBA, the “Banned” color scheme became recognized as an Air Jordan 1 colorway, eventually also being referred to as “Bred.” Later, the Air Jordan 1 “Chicago” was whipped up, a colorway that adhered to the NBA’s “uniformity of uniform rule.”

The nickname of the Air Jordan 1 “Homage to Home” likely signifies the fact that it is paying homage to the team that Michael Jordan used to call home. Each shoe features both colorways, splitting the sneaker in the middle. The lateral side resembles that of the Air Jordan 1 “Banned,” dressed up in Black and Red, while the medial side resembles that of the Air Jordan 1 “Chicago,” sporting the iconic combination of Black, Red and White. Additionally, the “Nike Air” branding can also be spotted on the tongues, adding an OG touch to this brand new colorway.

Until recently, there were no expectations or speculations that this colorway would end up joining this year’s Air Jordan releases 2018 as it was presumed to be nothing more than a sample. According to the latest reports and rumors though, it seems that the Air Jordan 1 “Homage to Home” will end up hitting the shelves on April 21st, 2018 and will retail at a price of $190.
