The Air Jordan 12 “Wings” from last year is regarded by many as one of the model’s best iterations to have arrived in 2016. The sneaker looked like an amalgamation of the Air Jordan 12 “The Master” and the Air Jordan 12 “Playoffs. While the Air Jordan 12 “Wings” did not have uppers that wore off to reveal underlying “Wings” graphics, the pattern was featured over the heel portions and underneath the soles. Furthermore, Jordan Brand had dropped the sneaker so that all proceeds would go to the Wings Foundation. This year, it turns out that the Air Jordan 1 High is receiving the “Wings” treatment.
When Jordan Brand dropped the Air Jordan 12 “Wings” last year, resellers did not waste much time to cop as many pairs as they possibly could. However, it was only later that Nike made the announcement about their unexpected plan for the profits generated from the sales of the sneaker. 100% of the proceeds from the sales were eventually donated to the Wings Foundation, which is an initiative that works with communities, mentors and teachers to help the youth develop strong education values. Like the Air Jordan 12 colorway, this initiative also got its name from Michael Jordan’s iconic “Wing It” poster.
Just recently, @zsneakerheadz provided an initial look at the Air Jordan 1 High “Wings” via some Instagram photos. The very next day, another Instagram user (@s.sam.group) another set of more detailed photos of the sneaker, which does not look anything like the Air Jordan 12 “Wings.” Based on a Twitter video recently posted by PO! (@_PO2345), Nike HQ has an entire “WINGS”- inspired retro collection on display. Nonetheless, this Air Jordan 1 High is entirely made up of distressed leather. Premium details include heel tags made of Gold-colored metal, bearing a silhouette of Michael Jordan’s “Wing It” pose. The feathery “Wings” graphic can be spotted over the insoles and underneath its icy outsoles, which also have “Wings” printed there in White.
Considering its nickname, this could end up being one of the first charity based Air Jordan releases 2017 and its proceeds will likely end up being donated to the Wings Foundation. Sneakerheads will have to keep checking back since an official release date for this Air Jordan 1 High “Wings” has not been announced yet.
