A New York Knicks-Inspired Colorway Joins Next Year’s Four Other Jordan 5 Iterations

In case Jordanheads have forgotten, this year was the 23rd Anniversary of the Air Jordan 7 and 2016 it will be the same occasion for the Air Jordan 8. Obviously, this means quite a few Air Jordan 8 colorways will hit the shelves, both new and old. However, for some reason Jordan Brand has also lined up one 2016 Jordan releases after another for the Air Jordan 5. There are already four different Air Jordan 5 iterations that hit the shelves next year, namely the Air Jordan 5 Black Metallic Silver, and three Air Jordan 5 Low renditions, namely the “Alternate 90″,  “China” and “Dunk From Above”.

Apparently, Jordan Brand has added one more to the list, judging from this photo that recently popped up online, which showcases another new colorway of the model’s low-top version. The color scheme that this Air Jordan 5 Low is dressed up in actually resembles the “Game Royal” rendition of Spike Lee’s Air Jordan Spike 40. Perhaps both sneakers draw their inspiration from the same source. So far, it is being speculated that at least this new Air Jordan 5 colorway might be inspired by the official colors of the New York Knicks.

The inspiration from the official team colors of the New York Knicks is more than obvious. The upper of this sneaker is covered almost entirely in Royal Blue, while the inner lining, the Jordan Jumpman logo on the tongue and triangular pattern on the white midsole are all dressed up in Orange. The addition of an icy translucent outsole completes this Knicks-inspired colorway. Of course, it is too soon to be expecting any announce of a potential date for the Jordan release 2016 of this sneaker. It is not even certain yet if this Air Jordan 5 colorway will indeed arrive at retailers next year.
