It seems that one of Jordan Brand’s upcoming Air Jordan releases 2019 is being designed in collaboration with A Ma Maniére. Nike was the first to collaborate with the Atlanta-based streetwear store this year, near the end of January. Although the two “Northern Lights” colorways of the Nike Air Max 720 were scheduled to make their retail debut on February 1st, 2019 at a price of $180, they had arrived early, exclusively at A Ma Maniére on January 28th, 2019. The pairs of the debuting Air Max 720 at A Ma Maniére were sold at a first–come basis, complete with a limited edition, special packaging.
A Ma Maniére Is Owned By James Whitner
James Whitner is also the owner of Social Status. Both streetwear boutiques are a part of his umbrella company, The Whitaker Group. He refers to A Ma Maniére as his “crown jewel,” probably because it is one of Atlanta’s most luxurious, high-end footwear and streetwear stores. Ever since being opened back in 2014, A Ma Maniére has been specializing in clothing and footwear brands like Hender Scheme, Jordan Brand, Nike, Rick Owens, and Stone Island. Continuing with the theme of the boutique, James even launched A Ma Maniére Living in Washington, D.C., which is essentially a modern upscale hotel/high-end store, so it is actually possible to stay there.
A Ma Maniére & Jordan Brand Are Working On An Proto-Max 720
On March 5th, a mysterious image was posted on A Ma Maniére’s official Instagram account (@maniere_usa). The image depicted the underside of an unknown Jordan Brand sneaker model with a strange greenish glow above it and unique, modified “AIR” branding below. More recently, James Whitner shared an image on his official account (@james.whitner) that offers a sneak preview of the sneaker model A Ma Maniére and Jordan Brand are collaboratively working on. It appears to be the Proto–Max 720 that is yet to make its retail debut and it seems to be all-Black with translucent outsoles that might possibly glow in the dark. Keep checking back for more updates.
