As every year, Nike once again played its part in commemorating Native American Heritage Month with this year’s N7 collection, which was fully unveiled earlier this month. The primary concept behind the collection is to motivate Native American youth to have resilience against setbacks, while also clarifying stereotypes and making people more conscious of Native American culture. Perhaps that is why Nike chose the “Spirit Of Protection” as the nickname of the 2016 N7 collection. These annual collections have always included an Air Jordan model. Since this year’s Nike N7 collection has already made its retail debut, the Air Jordan 31 colorway included in it should still be available.
The 2016 Nike N7 collection features Lyle Thompson, a professional lacrosse player from the upstate New York-based Onondaga Nation. Just like all the previous N7 ambassadors have had a “Dare to Rise” attitude, the same is the case with Lyle as well. Through the collection, he is serving as a source of inspiration for his fellow Aboriginal and Native American youngsters in North America, to encourage them to take part in physical activity and sports. Despite being the youngest amongst his brothers, who are also lacrosse players, he is regarded as equally formidable. Since the eagle is his spirit animal, an eagle’s feather print can be spotted throughout.
Sneakers that are a part of the 2016 Nike N7 collection include the Air Force 1, Air Force 1 Ultra Low and an Air Pegasus 89 for men, and an Air Force Upstep Warrior and an Air Pegasus 89 for women. Of course, there is also the men’s Air Jordan 31 colorway. The knitted uppers of this Air Jordan 31 iteration that sports a tone-tone finish, predominantly dressed up in clean White with Black appearing more towards the toe boxes. Along with embossed Jordan “Jumpman” and N7 branding, Turquoise-colored detailing can be spotted over the Flywire cables and midsoles, while icy outsoles finish the look.
As can be seen, a selection of Nike and N7 branded apparel is also included in this collection. The 2016 Nike N7 collection complete with the Air Jordan 31 hit the shelves on November 7th and sneakerheads wanting to cop a pair should still be able to for $185.
